Parallel structure refers to same word pattern within a sentence by repeating a chosen grammatical form. Never Use this Phrase, It is Incorrect

Image
Grammar is not a synchronized rule but it is a prescriptive and descriptive set of rules of a language. One must learn how to use a word in a right occasion correctly. I have seen in many occasions where people failed to use these superlative word correctly- worse and worst. This mostly occurs when people want to use them as a phrase to capture an unfriendly situation. It is absolutely wrong to say "worse comes to worse". Though it is a new generated idiom. "Worse comes to worst,"--note the t--is better because it indicates something has degraded from one negative plane to the lowest possible. Example: 1. Worse comes to worst, I will give him my last penny. 2. Worse comes to worst, I will walk home barefooted. We can also say: 3. If worse comes to worst I will ask him to come. 4. I will sent it through my email address if worse comes to worst. No. 3 and 4 are conditional statements that emphasize a previous experience. As in: I have been trying to send the document

Avoid These Two Words, They Are Embarrassing

I have always wondered if there is someone on this planet who doesn't make mistakes but I found non. In English language, if you are not a native speaker, you may not be able to analyze the lexicons of the language and defend some grammar. The way out is to keep learning. English grammar is wide and and as such L2 speaker of English is bound to make grammatical mistake. This article brings to your notice the difference between 'Migrate' and 'emigrate' "Emigrate" and "from" always go together, as do "immigrate" and "to." To emigrate is to come from somewhere, and to immigrate is to go to somewhere. "Colin emigrated from Ireland to the United States" means the same as "Colin immigrated to the United States from Ireland." However the use must be carefully looked into because they may sound confusing, but you just need to know the preposition to use for each one word. The following sentences are wrong: 1. She h

Towards The Use of Inverted Commas In Writing

Image
If you don't know the difference between single inverted comm and double inverted comma, this article will do you  great benefits. Just try to read till the end. This topic will be discussed in relation to standard English. What is inverted commas? Inverted commas are underwise called Quotation Marks in British English. These are used to enclose words of direct speech.  Generally, double inverted quotation ("x") are regarded as standard; the single inverted comma ('x') is used for a quote inside a quote. This means the double quotation comes before the single quotation if you want to use the two quotations within a sentence.  Examples: 1. I heard the violent man say, "the policeman shouted 'catch that man'. " 2.Professor Flynn began with, "Even if you've never read a word of Shakespeare, I'm sure you've heard 'To be or not to be' a thousand times." Inverted commas can be used to puntuate the title of books, plays, f

A On the mountain of solid rock, I find a golden value, The sun clouds my thought,  The rain wipes my tears, the world became a pantomime, I am miming the  melody, No one is hearing the beat of my ocean, Like a thought, wide like a forest,  All is a conference of meeting, Yes, where heaven meets my 'Earth'. (This video supports this literary work. All right reserved to the owner) I am within a Jupiter of life, Where my dream is hoving in the air, I plan to rest in a valiant bed, It is made up of roses and loves,  If I reach another angle of life, I will drop my tears, Trace my tears to the ocean, There you may find my thoughts, Life is not beyond the power of love, But, love is beyond the power of life, My shadow is following me,  Maybe I can fight the rock to the end, Rain rain, never stop to hide my pain, Dear sun, put me in your depth; That I may dry the ocean of fear, I walk in m

Arsenal Win Their 16th Community Shield Against Liverpool

Image
Revelation has always been the solution to a new beginning and Arsenal are proving that theory under Mikel Arteta right now. Arsenal battled Liverpool today in FA community shield and they never let their fans down.  Just less than two months ago, Arsenal birthed a dynamic victory against Chelsea at Wembley stadium in the FA cup. The win slated them for a community shield battle against Liverpool. Aubameyang had earlier cunnered a thunderous short from the right side but Takunmi cancelled the goal for Liverpool in the 79th minutes the match.  The game finished 1-1 and both team stepped in for penalty shoot-out. Salah took lead for Liverpool but Nelson calmed the boat for Arsenal with a deceptive short. Liverpool young star  Rhian Brewsterwho was introduced in the last minute of the match took the third penalty but fired it to hit the bar. Arsenal fantastic captain Aubameyang took the last kick for Arsenal and he never disappoint as usual. The win now means that Arsenal have won their

Stop Embarrassing Yourself "complimentary card" Is Absolutely Wrong, Say This Instead

Image
Thanks for clicking on this article. We are learning every day until will reach the cupidity. Today I want to redirect our mind to the right phrase we should say as regards "complimentary card". To start with, the word 'complimentary' means 'something given  freely'. We can confirm that in our dictionary. This meaning outrightly contradicts what we mean and the function of "card". In that context, what we have on our card is the details of our business and personal details. Giving someone your card means has nothing to do with "complimentary". For instance, Adex gave me a complimentary card of his new office. What this means is that it was given "freely". In a simple term, "business card" or "contact card is the correct phrase to use. Never say complimentary card again because it a contradictory phrase and as such, it is ungrammatical.

Premier league announced the 2020/2021 premier league fixtures today. As speculated before, Arsenal was rumoured to face a tough opponent in their first match but the new premier league fixtures have disproved it. Arsenal will start their opening match on the 12th of September. The match will see them travel to Fulham. Fulham is a newly promoted team from Championship. Parker led Fulham back to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Brentford. Last season, Arsenal won their first match against Newcastle United, courtesy of a goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in the Premier League on 11 August. Both Pierre Aubameyang and Alex Lacasset performed marvelously last season. Both players also started the match against Newcastle United. Fortunately, both players are still in good shape and they will be hoping to win their first fixture when they clash on with Fulham. However, Arsenal will play Liverpool in the community shield on the 28th of this month. Liverpool were extraordinary in the las

Let My Father Live Author: Olutayo Olalekan Alex. A. Prologue Thanks for clicking on this article.  This work is a non-fictional (true) literature. There is  a video below this poem to aid your knowledge. You may have read a pathetic story of a father who was sentenced to death by the Roman tyrants during the reign of Roman empire. A father was allegedly accused to have stolen some coins and because of that he was sentenced to death (death by starvation). In this case there is no way he can get food because he must be starved to death .                      Let My Father Live It was growing at the corner of life, Where the love stands for life, May I not mince these visions together, If I am olding off, If I am halfling down, let me stand well, Let thou heart open, Do not let doubt cloud my faith, I am not quailed, But this soul is magnanimous, It is a magic of life without measure, I wish I can explain what my eye is roving at, I scratched my heart, Oh, my soul swerves too. Can I reco

Willian has shown a connection between him and  David Luiz who joined Arsenal from Chelsea one season ago. Speaking on the relationship between him and Luiz, Willian said..... “He’s very happy,” Willian told Arsenal Digital. “We played together in the national team, we played together at Chelsea, and now at Arsenal again. The Linguistic Symptom of Death On Igbo Language

Image
Humans are the only species on the planet whose communication system exhibits enormous diversity.  As human beings die so do languages die. Language death is when a language is abandoned by its speakers or when a natural disasters wiped off its speakers so that its speakers are no longer living. Generally, the vanishing rate of most languages of the world is alarming. Of the 6000 living languages in the world, only 600 are classified as “safe,” while others are facing various levels of threat. According to research, 90% of world languages will be severely endangered by 2100. According to a report from the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO 2003) it predicts that 50% will be lost before the end of the twenty-first century.  In Africa, most indigenous languages are faced with the threat of being subsumed by larger linguistic groups which have left the indigenous languages docile. Several Academic research have predicted that one-third of African lang
